The votes are coming fast and furiously

The McCain Margarita is running away with it. Maggie Jo and her Obama Crew made a valiant effort last week; she rallied the Obama fans to placing 38 votes for the Senator from Chicago, but the McCain crew is just plain consistent. Day in and day out, the McCain votes keep on coming.
Here’s the Official tally through Wednesday night:
The No-Pain McCain margarita: 253
The Oh My! Obama-Rita: 205
The Bob Barr-garita
(got a late start): 11
That’s a lot of margaritas in 3 weeks!
I can’t BELIEVE it’s the end of October! Mexico’s Day of the Dead celebration is really cool–different from Halloween, but still full of skeletons and remembering the dead! Debbie has put some really cool Dia de los Muertos decorations up this year. I snagged this from Wikepedia:
The holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and relatives who have died. The celebration occurs on the 1st and 2nd of November, in connection with the Catholic holy days of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day which take place on those days. Traditions include building private altars honoring the deceased, using sugar skulls, marigolds, and the favorite foods and beverages of the departed, and visiting graves with these as gifts.
Debbie has fashioned an altar on the ledge between the dining room and the bar and, with the help of a couple of our awesome servers, made beautiful paper flowers in bright colors to go all the way along the ledge. This weekend we’ll be remembering the ones in our lives who’ve left us–so come on in and raise a toast…tequila, of course!
Day of the Dead is cool

Day of the Dead is cool

We had our first big delivery today–is this the beginning of a catering business?? We’ll see! Have to say THANKS to Susie Shad for taking the risk that I still know how to deliver lunch for 65 people!!
What else is going on this week?… let’s see… Oh Yes! There is a football game in town this weekend!! Not the Jags, not the Super Bowl, but what is formerly known as the “World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party”, the Florida/Georgia weekend is upon us. It’s a first for TacoLu, so we have no idea what to expect. I expect it’d be a good place to come and hang out with us and our friends, drink some margaritas and avoid the rowdy crowds!! Am I being a “local snob” with that statement? I still call it the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party, by the way, because I’ve seen it with my own eyes. UNBELIEVABLE how much fun people have in Jax this weekend. Of course, I can’t pick a side to win, but let’s just say that if the Bulldogs win, the Georgia fans stay and party and eat out and spend money at the beach… But, again, I couldn’t possibly choose a side.
The $10 taco is probably the biggest thing to hit this beach in years. Local legend, Dwight DeLude claimed it’s the best thing he’s put in his mouth in a long time! That’s a pretty big statement from one of this area’s most notable chefs (I just can’t call anyone a top chef anymore). Thanks, Dwight, I think the same of your Crab Cakes!
Come in and cast your vote. Our voting booth has been open for three weeks now!! Don’t forget!! We open at 10 am on Saturday and Sunday and we have some great brunch options–AND the entire menu is available!!
it's that time of year again~!!
