Next Stop: Cinco de Mayo
It’s been a good week here at the Lu. The weather is beautiful, the days are getting longer and hey–doesn’t a margarita sound good right about now?
The Black Tie and Baggies night was, by all accounts, a huge success! The Surfrider Foundation (www.surfrider.org) presents this big night and they had a contest for best dressed…the Black Tie and baggies theme is key to winning:
The Cassidy’s were looking hot and totally did it up–black tie up top, baggies down below! They are two of our Faves here at the Lu!!! We’re so proud to know them!!
It’s business as usual here as we get ready for our first ever, Cinco de Mayo. The holiday commemorates the Mexican army’s unlikely defeat of French forces at the Battle of Pueblaon May 5, 1862, under the leadership of Mexican General Ignacio Zaragoza SeguÃÂn. The Battle was significant for at least two reasons. First, while outnumbered almost two-to-one, the Mexicans defeated a much better-equipped French army that had known no defeat for almost 50 years. Second, this battle was important because it would be “the last time that an army from another continent invaded the Americas. While Cinco de Mayo has limited or no significance nationwide in Mexico, the date is observed in the United States and other locations around the world as a celebration of Mexican heritage and pride.
No significance? We’re gonna drink beer, for sure–AT LEAST!
Ben is not the only one confused about all that stuff… I cut and pasted all the info above from Wikepedia, just to clarify for those of us who thought Cinco de Mayo is to Mexico what July 4th is to us in the US.
We’ve had all kinds of fun lately. Megan and Brook, known to Ben as only Hot Chick #1 and Hot Chick #2 are here for margaritas and some Bangin Shrimp tacos. Who doesn’t love Hot Chicks who love Tequila and Tacos???????
These four gringos have been trying to keep it on the down-low…all the while drinking Dos Equis throughout the night! SO–for Cinco, we’re giving away a really nice set of Nike Slingshot golf clubs in a really COOL Adidas golf bag–thanks to the awesome Peeps at Dos Equis…we also have a skateboard to give away too, courtesy of our neighbor, Mitch. We have $5 Tijuana Margaritas in big cups and $7 HERRADURA margaritas in big cups and $4 Pints of Dos Equis draft beer-Lager and Amber (we have both kinds!). We’re working on a Big Gulp big cup 24 ouncer for a Dos Equis THROWDOWN!
