St. Augustine whirlwind tour of 48 hours.

Deb and I took a 48 hour vacation and it didn’t start off too well. We left Jax Beach around 4:30 on Sunday, but only made it to the Gate Station near the Guana State Park…the 66 VW started stinkin’ and smokin’ just about half of a mile from there, so we pulled into an unrented (as far as we could tell) oceanfront house. We made some calls and opened a bottle of Champagne while we waited for the cavalry–Mark and McCall–to show up with some tools and more beer! They really saved us: Brought beer and brought us a car so we could continue on to our destination, about 20 minutes down the road. That is amazing! We were in St. Augustine, checking into our hotel by 9:30! Thanks Mark and McCall!!!

St. Augustine may never be the same, either. After centuries of visitors, pirates, tourists and traders, St. Augustine just took a blow that it may never recover from: Don, Debbie, Ben and Elaine TEARING it up from downtown to the beaches…

We had a blast at every stop. Mysteriously, there are no pics from the swimming pool at the Casa Monica… Cellar 6 was great, Bistro de Leon was incredible!
