Texas Exes cheer the Longhorns to Victory in the Red River Rivalry!~
When a completely random customer looked me in the eye last week and said, knowingly, “You are going to have the Texas group here on Saturday…You’re going to get your ass handed to you. You know those guys throw down!!” THAT is when I began to think this was going to be serious.
I’ve had plenty of people, over the years, tell me that they were coming with a group to watch the game, or “after our soccer game we’re all coming over to your restaurant, so BE READY!” Usually it was never executed as advertised. “I don’t know where everybody went…they were supposed to be here…”
I had a feeling that when someone I don’t even know warns me that the Texas crowd “shows up” that we were going to be in for a wild Saturday of College football!
Wild, indeed. Wild really isn’t the word for what was going on at TacoLu last Saturday.
Organized and led by Eddie and Craig, this entire group was a cross section of years of Texas alumni. There were kids who looked like they may have been the Longhorn class of ’06 or so. They drank Tequila like they were–but then, so did everyone else!! There were people who could have been the proud parents of said grad of class of ’06. They, too, drank tequila like they just showed up on campus!
Nate and Lacie worked like crazy behind the bar to keep up. We sold out of Shiner Bock (Texas’ own brew) at the very end, sold over 100 Longhorn Margaritas (margaritas made with an darker anejo tequila that makes the drink a Burnt-Orange color) and hopefully made a bunch of people fans of TacoLu at the same time. I can’t wait for the Texas/Missouri game this weekend!!
